Sick as a Dog

So far I’ve managed to be sick throughout my entire winter vacation. Each day I pretended to not be sick so that I could do everything I wanted, and at night I came home to whine and complain about how terrible I was feeling. I’m sure my family loves having me home. As I’ve battled the different stages of my

Ode to Gabe

I promised Gabe that I would blog about how rad he is, seeing how I owe my skating and social life here in Colorado to his encouragement and connections. So this post is dedicated to Gabe. Unfortunately I don’t actually possess any photos of Gabe… I’m super bitter that I never saved the amazing picture he sent to me post

This kid rules.

One of my winnings from the Halloween Havoc was the Powell Fun video. I finally watched it on Sunday and was psyched to watch Ben Hatchell’s part. I’ve had the pleasure to skate with him a few times, mostly at random events like contests at Charmcity skatepark in Baltimore and a Journeys/Etnies demo in White Marsh, MD. He is amazing!

Prom, Graduation, and the End of an Era

Today is the start of my final week teaching at Heritage High School in Baltimore City. I am a little overwhelmed with emotion, but mostly just a bit depressed. I still have grading to do, students to find that need to make up their final exam, and a classroom to pack up. There will be little time to get too

Dabbling with the pros

The weekend began with me rushing to pack up my classroom and leave school with two of my students to go to an autograph signing with Ryan Sheckler, Mikey Taylor, and Kyle Leeper (etnies’ pro skaters) at Vu skateshop. My students all know Ryan Sheckler from his MTV show Life of Ryan, and I was almost as excited as they

Lazy Days

The sun came up on Saturday morning to find me still awake from Friday night. The mist was rising off the ground making for such a cool scene: I felt no reservations Friday night for two reasons: (1) it was the first weekend since January that I’ve been in Baltimore and not had to work Saturday school or go to

Back to the Future…

…or present actually. No, really the past, because I just want to post about yesterday right now. I was supposed to catch up to the present by telling about my spring break adventures, but right now I’d just rather write about yesterday before I forget. Before I write about yesterday’s adventures, I want to preface this story by saying that

Another weekend…

Sunday. Another weekend passes by. Luckily, this weekend happened to be pretty fantastic. I would say that my weekend began on Friday. We had a half-day for students, half of which was classes and half designated for the Junior Inagauration assembly. I taught 3 35-minute classes, in which there were about 4 students per class. My students stared blankly at

Another weekend slips by. Above are some of my photos from today… a little random perhaps. The weekend started, I suppose, by going to the basketball game at school. Our school’s team is amazing, and they were clearly the dominant team in the game. After the game, I went to the Alien Workshop video premiere (the movie’s called Mindfield). It

Same old, same old…

Starting right where I left off… Sunday was gorgeous. Seriously, it got up to 60 degrees and it was brilliantly sunny. What a perfect day to be outside. So what did I do? I went and skated Charmcity (indoor skatepark) where it was about 40 degrees and always seems to have that damp, cold feeling in the winter. At one
