Black Dots at Larimer Lounge

St. Patty’s day celebration. I was focused on car bombs, (representing for the carbomb crew), and Fuzz and Glen were down to check out John’s band the Black Dots playing at Larimer Lounge in Denver. John had told me about some technique for shooting photos of bands… I didn’t exactly have all the right equipment and my good flash needed new batteries, but I tried my best… so much fun…

After the Black Dots finished their set we chilled and had far too many car bombs and PBRs. Yea St Patty’s day.

On the way to drop me off, Glen and I set off a late-night mission. Glen had some unfinished business with one of the raddest dudes ever…
Ha. Jack – did you notice it faster than Glen?

Birthday Madness

Apparently, a lot of people were born on January 15th. Most relevant to me was Fuzz’s and John’s birthday. The Trick Factory headed to Denver for a show at the Three Kings Tavern to celebrate. Some photos to document the night…

And the frozen nights.

Took a trip down to Larimer Lounge in Denver on Sunday with Glen, Fuzz, and Zach to check out a band called Weekend and whoever they were opening for… I think Young Prisms. I don’t usually go out on Sundays, and I think I was a little off. But whatever… a break before I attempt to endure this brutal week. Weekend was actually really good, and their drummer was captivating. And the awkward silences were hilarious.

It was worth it to get out on a freezing night even when I’m loosing it. Please just let me get through this week.

Friday Night: Shows in Denver

Friday night, finally. I was running on very little sleep, a few beers, and lots of delicious Blue Moose dips and salsas when I got to Glen’s house. I was super late (as always), so I only got to skate rampy for a few minutes, but long enough to be reminded how quirky and fun this tiny sketchy ramp is. On the way up to Denver we stopped by Crisis to pick up Fuzz. I got a little shit for wearing shake junt colors (which I appreciated more than the Green Bay Packers comments), so I did a little photo shoot with Fuzz.

Shake Junt! (all night long)
After that, it was on. We made it up to Denver and hit up a pizza spot first…

After we got slices, it was time to see Glen’s friend Zack and his band. I’ve seen them once before, and they always put on a good show… lots of energy. The show was at the 3 Kings Tavern…

…where there is a vending machine with everything you could possible want for the night…

…Sun chips and clean white socks…

…also M&Ms and a cassette tape…

…and of course cigs, gum, and ear plugs.

Yup.
Next up: Larimer Lounge. On the way over, Glen and Fuzz tried to teach me how to talk to boys. I’m not sure how well their advice helped, but then again, I can probably use all the help I can get. Plus I was wasted, Fuzz seemed a little better off and Glen was sober, so they seemed like voices of reason.

First band: The Dig. I’m guessing a local band? Anyways, they put on a rad show.

Then, the main event of the night, The Henry Clay People.

And they put on an AMAZING show.

Glen thinks their lead singer looks like Cory Kennedy. I’m not sold on that comparison, but he still rocked it hard. And was super rad when I talked to him after the show.

Such a good show. Seriously. Their songs were amazing, and their covers at the end just sealed the deal. After the show I was rocked… all thanks to Fuzz assisting me with the double fisting all night. And the last photo I took for the night…

…pretty appropriate.
