This year, I was in need of a spring break as bad as any other previous year. And so far it’s been great.
Starting with skating Louisville on Saturday…
Photos by Glen:
Saturday night I was supposed to head up to the mountains, but stuck around to hit up a Jeremy Fish art show in Denver with a crew. The art was awesome…

The next day, I postponed going to the mountains…again. The day started with breakfast with Amelia and Jules at Walnut Cafe. Not a bad start to a Sunday morning. Afterwards, I brought Jules to pick up her car… and unfortunately she discovered she was locked out of her car. So we waited for AAA:
Fun times. Apparently after a guy came and unlocked the car, Jules drove away only to realize that her brakes were still failing. Bummer.I didn’t even find out that she was stuck in Boulder until I was long gone on my adventure for the day.
As for the adventure, I skated all day in the beautiful weather. I didn’t take any photos.. too busy skating all day. I skated a park I had never been to before in Longmont with Glen, Nate, Fuzz, Jason, Neil, and Dave Fuller. The park was really small with some weird angles, but lots of fun. I was psyched to land both a 180 nose grind to fakie and a 5-0 on the bump to ledge setup.
We moved on to Fort Collins so Glen could bring some boards to MRKT and then we skated Northside park and the Courthouse. The day was amazing… perfect weather and skating all day long. Aaaah. It’s been so nice to have time (and good weather) to skate, but my body is feeling it! My feet are aching and I have a nice bruise on my leg from skating on St. Patty’s day…
Finally, Monday morning I made it up to the mountains. I was first planning on leaving at 5am, then 6am, then 8am, and ended up leaving arou
nd 9:30. First stop was in Keystone, to ride with Amelia and her friend Scott. It was so hot and there was atleast one run that was soft and fast at the same time. We didn’t ride too long, and spent the rest of the afternoon in the sun, having some apres-ski drinks, happy hour tacos, and relaxing in the hot tub by Scott’s house. Eventually I made it all the way to Avon to check into my place for the week. I was ready to crash, but talked to my friend Brandon who was in town and met up with him and some friends at Loaded Joe’s, which is a coffee shop by day and (sort of) bar at night. Apparently it was movie night and we watched Ninja Assasin in between scattered philosophical conversation.
Today I made it all the way back out to Keystone to ride with Amelia and her youngest sister Ella. We hit the park a good amount and after a run through the halfpipe, I had my best park run. I hit the two widest boxes at the top and managed to do a board slide and a (sort of) back lip (which is awesome cause I usually just ride straight across the boxes) and I finally landed this one box setup with a flat box with a drop (gap) to a down box. Woohoo. This is after I fell on it yesterday not expecting the drop, and again today, managing to mess my hand a little bit.
After a day riding, I went to happy hour in Breckenridge with all 3 Kupps, and after ordering a crazy amount of food, I made it back to Avon. It was snowing the whole way and going over the Vail Pass was so sketchy. I seriously drove under 40 mph the entire way from Frisco to Vail. And later they closed the pass for the night so I was lucky to make it over when I did (with my 2-wheel drive civic)! And it’s still snowing now in Avon, so hopefully tomorrow will be powder day at Beaver Creek!
