Costa Rica! 2015 trip, Part 2

And here are my Iphone photos from my trip to Costa Rica!

I had a late night flight to Houston from Denver, and met up with Meagan around 6am or so on a Tuesday morning in the Houston airport. We had some mimosas with breakfast…

IMG_1095_resized

and then got on our flight to Costa Rica!…

A few photos from the cab ride from the Liberia airport to the Sugar Shack…

IMG_1101_resized IMG_1102_resized IMG_1104_resized IMG_1109_resized

We got to the Sugar Shack some time in the evening. First thing was to go to the beach and take a dip in the ocean. Then off to get food. We ended up a hipster American-style burgers and beer joint…

IMG_1117_resized

with zucchinis in the salad as big as your face…

IMG_1123_resized

Wednesday morning, the view from the front deck…

IMG_1126_resized IMG_1129_resized

Off through the paths to get breakfast…IMG_1131_resized IMG_1135_resized IMG_1140_resized

Me looking all dorky…

IMG_1155_resized

We ate breakfast at Rosie’s for the first 3, maybe 4, days straight. And Rosie never disappoints! Every single breakfast tasted like the best thing I’ve ever eaten. Wish I could find something like this in Colorado…

IMG_1158_resized

More wandering…
IMG_1164_resized

We stopped by the skatepark to check it out…
IMG_1165_resized

And to the Harbor Reef pool, where we spent a LOT of time…IMG_1171_resized IMG_1176_resized IMG_1181_resized IMG_1184_resized

Caught Meagan taking a photo with her Ipad…IMG_1189_resized

We stopped by the corner store and they were sold out of Imperial that day, so we got an assortment. My favorite was the “Bamboo”, which is rum and coke in a can. Kaiser, on the other hand, was the worst beer I have ever tasted in my entire life.

IMG_1191_resized

That day Sara arrived, and we went for pizza…

IMG_1196_resized IMG_1198_resized

Thursday morning I took a solo trip to the skate park. Super fun, and instantly drenched in sweat, type of a session. Met some locals, including the guy who built the park. Super rad people, super fun, quirky park. The bowl is the most ridiculous bowl I have ever seen.

IMG_1200_resized IMG_1201_resized IMG_1202_resized IMG_1204_resized IMG_1205_resized IMG_1212_resized IMG_1213_resized

After skating, another amazing breakfast at Rosie’s…

IMG_1215_resized IMG_1217_resized

I love that they have a sloth on their money…

IMG_1220_resized

Spiky tree…

IMG_1223_resized

We stopped by the Yoga Institute to check it out and get a schedule for classes…

IMG_1225_resized IMG_1229_resized IMG_1231_resized IMG_1236_resized

And, back to the Harbor Reef pool/swim-up bar

IMG_1242_resized

First casado of the trip… I had remembered eating only casados the whole trip 10 years ago, and was so excited to eat somewhere that had them on the menu. Casado con pescado…

IMG_1248_resized

Friday morning, after yoga, back to Rosie’s…IMG_1251_resized

And back to the Harbor Reef! (pretty much the theme of the trip). Also, Jordan, Gina and Brian had arrived the night before…

IMG_1264_resized IMG_1271_resized

Walking down to the beach…IMG_1277_resized IMG_1283_resized IMG_1289_resized IMG_1290_resized IMG_1297_resized IMG_1317_resized

The skate park at night…

IMG_1328_resized IMG_1332_resized

Also, that night Sara found a Scorpion in the bedroom her and Meagan were staying in. Yikes… this photo is after being squashed by a flip flop…IMG_1339_resized

Saturday morning yoga class…

IMG_1352_resized IMG_1362_resized

true statement…

Saturday’s journey to the beach to the north of Playa Guiones…

IMG_1376_resized IMG_1381_resized IMG_1382_resized IMG_1385_resized IMG_1388_resized IMG_1393_resized IMG_1399_resized

Casado con pescado #2 of the trip. And this time with a guaro con fresca. Just like almost every meal I had in Costa Rico ten years ago. (The women serving us thought I was crazy for ordering guaro.)

IMG_1408_resized

These trees remind me of Dr. Suess…

IMG_1411_resized

this guy was awesome…

IMG_1421_resized

Saturday night was the Bills’ last night before they had to head back to snowy Rhode Island. For the occasion, we had a beach party, with bonfire, mini charcoal for cooking.

IMG_1423_resized IMG_1425_resized IMG_1433_resized IMG_1440_resized IMG_1441_resized

And then a stop at the bar for a last call beer…

IMG_1455_resized IMG_1456_resized

Sunday morning we said goodbye to the Bills (this was sad), and then to Harbor Reef for breakfast…

IMG_1466_resized

The beach was beautiful at low tide…

IMG_1480_resized IMG_1484_resized

still the best gravestone ever…

IMG_1486_resized

Hammock and dirty feet…

IMG_1489_resized

Ceviche at Harbor Reef…

IMG_1492_resized

Finally! Monkey sightings! All my monkey pictures are terrible… the timing never worked out that I had my real camera with me, and the Iphone didn’t do too hot…IMG_1521_resized IMG_1564_resized

Monday morning stroll with Meagan…

IMG_1569_resized IMG_1578_resized IMG_1580_resized IMG_1583_resized IMG_1585_resized IMG_1587_resized IMG_1590_resized IMG_1594_resized IMG_1597_resized IMG_1598_resized IMG_1602_resized

I like this gravestone too…

IMG_1603_resized IMG_1605_resized IMG_1608_resized IMG_1610_resized

back at Harbor Reef…

IMG_1713_resized

Bill was in the daily surf photos!IMG_1714_resized

Tuesday morning. Last morning of the trip… so sad. So beautiful. I walked down to the beach to take photos as the sun rose.

IMG_1718_resized IMG_1720_resized IMG_1721_resized IMG_1722_resized IMG_1723_resized IMG_1747_resized

Map of the area…

IMG_1768_resizedIMG_1774_resized

This was cutest craziest dog…

IMG_1777_resizedIMG_1782_resized

In the cab on the way back to the Liberia airport…

IMG_1802_resizedIMG_1875_resizedIMG_1882_resized

And the flight back to Houston…

IMG_1892_resizedIMG_1895_resizedIMG_1896_resized

And then I said goodbye to Meagan in the Houston airport…

IMG_1900_resized

What an amazing trip. Thank you so much to everyone – can’t wait for another chance to go back!
